1. WHAT IS ALEPHIUM ?

 

Alephium employs the innovative BlockFlow sharding algorithm, utilizing a stateful UTXO model and DAG data structure to achieve efficient sharding. This unique approach enables Alephium to seamlessly support over 10,000 transactions per second while maintaining a unified 'single-chain' user experience.


The Proof of Less Work (PoLW) consensus mechanism, a breakthrough in energy efficiency, reduces consumption by an impressive 87% compared to Nakamoto's original Proof of Work. The mechanism dynamically adjusts difficulty after each new block and triggers a mining schema change when the network surpasses 1 Exahash/s of hashrate. Beyond this threshold, miners must shift external costs to the internal network by burning coins, striking a balance between external (energy, equipment) and internal (burning coins) mining costs.


Alephium's stateful UTXO model blends the flexibility of mutable state (as seen in Ethereum) with the inherent security advantages of immutable state (UTXO or eUTXO). This novel approach supports mutable states for smart contracts akin to Ethereum's ecosystem, while simultaneously leveraging the security benefits of the UTXO model for assets.


This integration is a significant enhancement for both developers and users, providing an upgraded account model with a dedicated token handling mechanism (UTXO). The sUTXO model serves as a robust foundation for building smart contracts, ensuring secure asset management.


Alephium's implementation facilitates the grouping of multiple participants and calls into a single transaction, unlocking truly trustless P2P transactions and smart contracts. Tokens on Alephium, as first-class citizens, are UTXO-based, reducing complexity and implementation risks while ensuring true ownership. Users have effective ownership and custody of tokens through their private key, eliminating risks associated with third-party smart contracts.


Alephium's novel virtual machine addresses critical issues in current dApps platforms. The less IO-intensive VM ensures unmatched performance, intentionally excluding flash loans by design. Furthermore, the VM mitigates various attack vectors of the EVM, such as unlimited authorization, double dip issues, reentrancy attacks, etc. The fine-grained stateful UTXO execution model minimizes risk in arbitrage, providing a secure environment for users and developers alike.


2. HOW TO MINE ALEPHIUM ON OSPREY E300 BOX?


STEP 1: UPDATE FIRMWARE


We have released firmware version N2.0.25 , which supports Aleph mining. Today - January 30th, 2024, you can download it using the link below and perform the update manually. Starting tomorrow, January 31th, 2024, you can upgrade automatically by logging into the WebUI, enabling auto-update firmware, saving the settings, and then waiting for approximately 5 minutes. The software management program will automatically upgrade you to N2.0.25

 STEP 2: RUN ALEPHIUM


You just need to log in WebUI and go to "Miner" webpage, filling in the mining parameters then click “Start”

STEP 3: CHECKING LOG AND VIEW MINING CHARTS


  • On pool side:  we recommend use vipor pool (because they are using two extra nonce bytes, which adapt to our version N2.0.25 ; Go to https://vipor.net/connect/alph and filling your mining address to get the hashrate chart 

  • On miner side: you may monitor log at “Miner Log” webpage
